Persefoni carbon accounting software

Persefoni sells carbon accounting and disclosure software, with a free Pro plan and a paid Advanced plan (persefoni.com).

It is one of the few vendors whose pricing page names an SECR report, which makes the UK tests on this page directly relevant.

We have not tested Persefoni and give it no rating.

Persefoni’s home page leads with “Carbon Footprint & Sustainability Reporting” and a promise to respond with confidence to disclosure requests from customers, investors and regulators.

It organises the product as measure, report, decarbonise (persefoni.com).

Measurement is Scope 1, 2 and 3 footprints “for businesses of all sizes and complexities”.

Reporting is what Persefoni calls “assurance-grade GHG emissions reporting for every major climate disclosure regulation”, with regulatory and investor reporting.

Decarbonisation covers net-zero target setting, reduction modelling and supplier engagement, and financial services get financed-emissions measurement and analytics.

Its AI layer, PersefoniAI, includes a Copilot chat assistant and anomaly detection on large datasets such as electricity consumption.

These are Persefoni’s statements about its own product.

Persefoni writes the two plans for two audiences.

Pro is “best for companies with low to medium complexity of operations” responding to customer and investor footprint requests — it names CDP and EcoVadis supply-chain requests (pricing page).

Advanced is “best for sustainability-ambitious or enterprise-scale companies” building what Persefoni calls the digital backbone of a sustainability programme.

Its financial-services offering is written for banks, investors and their portfolio companies.

Many searches reach this page asking how to evaluate Persefoni on SECR compliance in the UK, so the first thing to settle is whether SECR applies to you at all — tested in the check further down and on SECR thresholds.

The wider fork between UK regimes is on carbon management software.

Read the detailed guidance and evidence

Persefoni’s pricing table lists Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 categories 1 to 15 in both plans.

It lists market-based Scope 2, “for renewable energy tracking”, as an addition in Advanced, along with expanded calculation and emission-factor granularity.

That split fits the UK rule: UK SRS S2 requires location-based Scope 2 and only permits a market-based figure (¶29(a)(v); ¶¶B30–B31).

Emissions are to be absolute and gross, measured under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, with all fifteen Scope 3 categories considered and the included ones disclosed (¶¶B32–B33).

For a financial institution, ¶29A lets category 15 be limited to financed emissions; PCAF’s standard is the industry method, now in its third edition for Part A (2025).

Searches for a Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculator should note that a total is the start; UK SRS S2 wants the category record too, explained on Scope 3 under UK SRS.

SECR qualification check · SI 2008/410 Sch 7 ¶20B

Exempt this year
  • OverTurnover £45m against not more than £36m.
  • OverBalance sheet total £22m against not more than £18m — gross assets, no deduction for liabilities.
  • WithinEmployees 180 against not more than 250 — a monthly headcount average, not full-time equivalents.

Within only 1 of the three limits this year, so the qualifying conditions are not met. ¶20B(1)(b)(iii): the conditions were met last year and the company was exempt last year — one year over the limits does not bring it in.

Companies Act size, for contrast only: on these figures the company would pass the medium-sized test of two of £54m, £27m and 250 that applies to accounts from April 2025 — a test SECR does not use.

SI 2008/410 Sch 7 ¶20B(1)–(3)

Not modelled: the subsidiary shelter in ¶20A(2), the Companies Act exclusions in s.467, and the 40,000 kWh disclosure relief.

Read the detailed guidance and evidence

Persefoni lists an SECR GHG Metrics Report, and the most common search that reaches this page is about Persefoni and SECR compliance in the UK.

The prior question is whether SECR applies to you.

A quoted company reports under Part 7 of Schedule 7 at any size (Sch 7 Part 7).

An unquoted company is exempt in a year it meets at least two of three qualifying conditions — turnover not more than £36 million, balance sheet not more than £18 million, not more than 250 employees (Sch 7 ¶20B).

So a company must exceed at least two of those limits before Part 7A reaches it, and one year over the line does not change its position on its own.

Large LLPs come in through SI 2008/1911 reg 12B on the same figures.

The check beside this text runs that test as Schedule 7 writes it, including the two-year rule.

Searches ask how to evaluate Persefoni on SECR compliance, sustainability reporting software, carbon accounting, the IFRS sustainability standards, CSRD, CBAM, CDP and as a Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculator.

The table treats each the same way: the rule, Persefoni’s words, and the request that tests one against the other.

The government’s SECR guidance sets out what the directors’ report must contain; Persefoni’s SECR report is the thing to test against it.

UK SRS is available for voluntary use by any UK entity (DBT guidance), and listed companies in scope of the FCA rules report against it on a comply-or-explain basis for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027.

Persefoni’s ISSB report rests on the IFRS standards (IFRS navigator); the UK amendments are set out on UK SRS vs IFRS S1 and S2.

For CBAM, the UK’s own mechanism under Part 5 of the Finance Act 2026 commences on 1 January 2027 and is separate from the EU’s.

In the UK no company is required to obtain sustainability assurance.

Listed companies in scope of the FCA rules state whether they obtained it and, if so, the provider, the disclosures covered and the standard used.

In the EU, Omnibus I removed the path to reasonable assurance, so CSRD assurance is limited assurance (Directive (EU) 2026/470).
