Watershed carbon accounting software
Watershed sells carbon accounting and sustainability disclosure software to large companies, and describes its platform in three parts: measure, report and act (watershed.com).
This page sets what Watershed says about its product beside what SECR, UK SRS S2, the FCA rules and the CSRD require, so a UK buyer knows what to ask to see.
We have not tested Watershed and give it no rating.

Watershed calls itself the enterprise platform for emissions measurement and sustainability disclosure.
Its platform page describes three modules: Measure, for building the emissions inventory; Report, for turning data into disclosures; and Act, for targets, supplier programmes and clean-power and carbon-removal purchasing.
On measurement it says it ingests PDFs automatically, uses AI agents to clean and analyse data, and holds 2.3 million built-in emission factors covering 95% of global GDP.
It says its methodologies are third-party assured every year, and that calculations are transparent with full lineage.
On reporting it describes ingesting data once and reusing it across reports, with peer benchmarks, AI-drafted text and an audit trail.
Its CSRD page adds double materiality mapped to the ESRS, automatic ESRS metrics with “150+ automated checks”, in-product guidance and benchmarks drawn from 10,000 companies.
All of these are Watershed’s statements about its own product.

Watershed describes its customers as leading companies and its product as an enterprise platform.
Its CSRD page is written for groups with many entities, subsidiaries and data owners — it speaks of data “from dozens of teams, systems, and subsidiaries”.
That framing matters for a UK buyer deciding scale: a single-entity SECR filer needs a kWh total, a few emissions limbs and a ratio, which is a small job for any enterprise system.
A listed group preparing for the FCA’s comply-or-explain rules from 2027, or a UK group with an EU subsidiary in the CSRD, is closer to the audience Watershed describes; the rules for each are on UK SRS compliance and CSRD and the UK.
Whether the product suits a smaller company is not something its own pages address, and not something we can judge without testing it.

Read the detailed guidance and evidence
Watershed says all scopes are covered and that it has purpose-built methodologies for all 15 Scope 3 categories.
It also describes activity-based Scope 3 category 1 — purchased goods and services — to inform procurement decisions.
The UK tests are specific.
UK SRS S2 ¶29(a) asks for absolute gross Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions measured under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, and location-based Scope 2, with market-based information permitted but not required.
¶¶B32–B33 require all fifteen Scope 3 categories to be considered and the included ones disclosed — which is a record, not a total.
For UK activity data, the DESNZ conversion factors for the year in which the activity mostly fell are the set a SECR report would expect; ask which set Watershed applies to UK electricity, and how the 2026 methodology change is annotated.
Watershed’s “Act” module includes investing in carbon removal; under UK SRS S2 credits never reduce the gross inventory, so ask to see them held in a separate ledger.
The rule is explained on Scope 3 under UK SRS.

| SECR | Energy in kWh, the statutory emissions limbs, at least one emissions intensity ratio, a methodology statement, comparatives (Sch 7 ¶¶15–18A, 20D–20H) | Its 2023 Disclosures launch post lists SECR among the frameworks supported (en-GB post); the current platform page does not name SECR | A directors’ report SECR section for a UK entity, with each limb, the ratio and last year’s figures |
| UK SRS S2 | Gross Scope 1, 2 and 3 to the GHG Protocol; location-based Scope 2; all fifteen Scope 3 categories considered (¶29(a); ¶¶B30–B33) | “All scopes and required ESG metrics covered”; methodologies for all 15 Scope 3 categories; data mapped to ISSB (platform page) | Location-based Scope 2 as the default, and a category-by-category Scope 3 inclusion record |

Many people search for how to evaluate Watershed on SECR compliance in the UK, on IFRS sustainability standards, on CSRD compliance and on CBAM.
The table answers each the same way: it states the rule, states what Watershed says, and gives the request that tests one against the other.
SECR is the clearest case: Watershed’s own June 2023 en-GB launch post lists it, and the government’s SECR guidance sets out what the directors’ report must contain.
UK SRS itself is available for voluntary use by any entity (DBT guidance), and listed companies in scope of the FCA rules report against it or explain; see UK SRS S2 for what the climate standard asks.

Watershed says its methodologies are third-party assured every year, that every reported figure traces back to its source data, calculation and approver, and that it offers verification support and what it calls a guaranteed assurance program.
Those are Watershed’s statements, and the assurance it refers to is over its own methodologies, not over any customer’s report.
In the UK, no company is required to obtain sustainability assurance; listed companies in scope of the FCA rules must state whether they did, from whom and to which standard (PS26/19).
Two third-party marks can be checked at their owners’ own pages: CDP’s partner register lists Watershed as an Accredited Solutions Provider of the Software type, with no tier shown; and Verdantix’s 2026 Green Quadrant press release names Watershed among eight firms in its leading group.
Both are those organisations’ views, made by their own methods, and neither is ours; Watershed’s reports to CDP’s disclosure system are a separate matter again.

People searching for Watershed pricing are usually trying to size a budget; the honest route is to fix the scope first — entities, regimes, whether supplier engagement is included — and ask for a quote against it.

These profiles are built on the same pattern: the vendor’s own words, set against the same requirements.
Listing them is not a recommendation, and they are in no order of merit.
- Normative — a carbon accounting platform that describes a named adviser on every account.
- Persefoni — carbon footprint and disclosure software with financed-emissions tools.
- Sweep — sustainability data management that names UK SRS among its frameworks.
All seventeen are described side by side, alphabetically, on carbon management software, with the requirements every tool is measured against.
Frequently asked
Questions people ask
Does a Watershed emissions inventory establish IFRS S2 compliance?
No. Watershed describes emissions measurement, traceability and reporting tools, but IFRS S2 also covers governance, strategy, risk management, climate resilience and other metrics and targets.
Ask for a requirement map showing what the product produces, what the company must write or decide, and what remains incomplete; this site has not tested the output.
What is Watershed?
Watershed describes itself as an enterprise platform for emissions measurement and sustainability disclosure, organised into three parts it calls Measure, Report and Act.
On its platform page, read on 1 October 2026, it says it holds 2.3 million built-in emission factors and has methodologies for all 15 Scope 3 categories.
Does Watershed support SECR compliance in the UK?
Watershed’s June 2023 launch post for its Disclosures product lists SECR among the frameworks it supports; its current platform page does not name SECR.
Whether the output meets Schedule 7 is a question for a demonstration: ask to see each statutory limb, the kWh total, an intensity ratio with your chosen denominator, the methodology statement and last year’s comparatives.
Does Watershed support IFRS sustainability standards and UK SRS?
Watershed says its data maps to ISSB disclosures among others.
UK SRS is not named on the pages read.
UK SRS S2 differs from IFRS S2 in places listed in the government’s consultation response, so ask to see a UK SRS S2 output specifically, with location-based Scope 2 as the default.
Is Watershed a Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions calculator?
Watershed says it covers all scopes and has purpose-built methodologies for all 15 Scope 3 categories.
For UK SRS S2 the test is whether the tool records which categories are included and why the others are not, and whether it keeps credits out of the gross total.
Does Watershed support CSRD compliance?
Watershed’s CSRD page describes double materiality mapped to the ESRS, automatic ESRS metrics, automated checks and AI-drafted narrative.
The requirement no ranking page tests for is the Article 2(2) statement of which ESRS version was applied in a financial year starting in 2026; ask to see where that is recorded.
How much does Watershed cost?
Watershed does not publish a price on its website.
This site records that as Enterprise level · TBD: the price is set with the vendor.
Is Watershed CDP accredited?
CDP’s own register lists Watershed as an Accredited Solutions Provider of the Software type, for climate change.
The register page shows no tier.
Has this site tested Watershed?
No. This page describes what Watershed publishes about itself and sets it beside what the UK rules require. It is not a review and gives no rating.
