Vendor note · Emitwise · from the owner’s notice
Emitwise carbon accounting software
Emitwise, a carbon accounting product, is no longer sold as a standalone product or brand, according to the notice now on its own website (emitwise.com).
Green Project Technologies acquired the software in July 2025, and its technology continues inside Green Project’s products.
This page records that change and sets out what a former user must carry over to meet the UK rules; we have tested neither company’s software.

Emitwise was carbon accounting software, and Green Project says it bought the platform to strengthen its supply-chain decarbonisation capabilities.
Its website now carries a single notice headed “Emitwise is now Green Project Technologies” (emitwise.com).
The notice says Green Project Technologies acquired Emitwise’s software solution in July 2025, and that the platform and team are now part of Green Project’s end-to-end decarbonisation solutions.
It says Emitwise “is no longer sold as a standalone product or brand” and that its technology now powers Green Project’s supply-chain and product carbon footprint capabilities.
Green Project launched those capabilities as suite50 on 1 October 2025: engage50 for supplier engagement, account50 for carbon accounting, and act50 for renewable energy certificates (launch announcement).
Its account50 page says Emitwise’s technology now powers engage50.
These are Green Project Technologies’ statements.

This page is for three groups of readers.
Former Emitwise customers, who need to know where their data and their supplier programme now sit.
Buyers who met Emitwise in an older list of carbon software and want to know whether it can still be bought — it cannot, on its own.
And readers looking for sustainability reporting software for SECR in the UK generally, who will find every vendor in the directory described the same way on sustainability software.
Green Project describes itself as a supply chain decarbonisation platform for procurement and sustainability teams (greenprojecttech.com).
Its engage50 page says suppliers get calculation tools at no cost, while the buyer’s pricing reflects supplier screening, footprint calculations and decarbonisation work across the supplier network.

Green Project’s account50 page describes Scope 1, 2 and 3 inventories aligned with the GHG Protocol, CDP, CSRD and SBTi, with estimation tools and quality controls where data is missing.
engage50 is built around supplier data — corporate, product and service carbon footprints from suppliers — which bears directly on Scope 3 category 1, purchased goods and services.
UK SRS S2 asks for gross Scope 1, 2 and 3 under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, location-based Scope 2, and all fifteen Scope 3 categories considered (¶29(a); ¶¶B30–B33).
Under the Scope 3 Standard itself, no category is optional; exclusions must be disclosed and justified.
act50 lets suppliers buy and retire renewable energy certificates, which change a supplier’s market-based Scope 2; UK SRS S2 requires the location-based figure and only permits the market-based one (¶¶B30–B31).
The category rules are on Scope 3 under UK SRS and the standard on UK SRS S2.

When a carbon platform changes hands or is retired, the reporting duties do not move with it; they stay with the company.
SECR is the clearest case: after the first year, a quoted company repeats last year’s emissions and ratio (Sch 7 ¶18) and last year’s energy, UK proportion and efficiency narrative (¶18A).
A large unquoted company or LLP repeats last year’s figures under ¶20H.
Restating a prior year needs the factor set that year used, because each DESNZ set is for activity data falling entirely or mostly within its year (methodology ¶1.10).
An ESOS participant must keep the records behind its assessment, including the data used for any estimate, and failing to keep them is a penalty in its own right (SI 2014/1643 reg 28; Part 8).
The check beside this text lists, for the regimes you report under, what to export before the old system goes.

| Regime | What the rule requires | What Emitwise says | Ask to see |
|---|---|---|---|
| SECR | kWh, the statutory limbs, one emissions intensity ratio, methodology — and last year’s figures (Sch 7 ¶¶18, 18A, 20H) | SECR is not named on the Green Project pages read | Import last year’s SECR figures and methodology from the Emitwise export, and reproduce them |
| DESNZ factors | The UK set for the year the activity falls mostly within (2026 methodology ¶1.10) | account50 maps activity and expense data to “verified emissions factors” | Which UK set and year were applied to prior years, so they can be restated consistently |
| UK SRS S2 | Gross Scopes 1–3; location-based Scope 2; all fifteen Scope 3 categories considered (¶29(a); ¶¶B30–B33) | Scope 1, 2 and 3 “aligned with leading standards such as the GHG Protocol, CDP, CSRD, and SBTi” (account50) | Location-based Scope 2 and a category-by-category Scope 3 record carried across from the old system |
| FCA listing rules | Comply or explain; a one-year Scope 3 relief whose use must be stated (PS26/19 ¶¶3.14, 3.20) | Not named on the pages read | The relief statement in year one, and the Scope 3 figures or explanation in year two |
| Certificates | Location-based Scope 2 required; market-based permitted (UK SRS S2 ¶¶B30–B31) | act50 lets suppliers buy and retire Energy Attribute Certificates | How supplier certificates are reflected without changing the location-based figure |
The table sets the UK rules beside what Green Project, the successor, says its products do.
The government’s SECR guidance sets out what the directors’ report must contain, and SECR is not named on the Green Project pages read.
UK SRS is available for voluntary use by any UK entity (DBT guidance), and listed companies in scope of the FCA rules report against it on a comply-or-explain basis for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027.
UK SRS S1 relieves comparatives only in the first year an entity applies it (UK SRS S1 ¶E1), so a mid-stream change of system needs last year’s data too.
Green Project names CDP among its frameworks; the ESOS duties are set out on ESOS Phase 4 requirements.

Green Project describes account50 as “financial-grade, audit-ready” and designed for teams responsible for third-party assurance.
In the UK no company is required to obtain sustainability assurance; listed companies in scope of the FCA rules state whether they obtained it and, if so, the provider, the disclosures covered and the standard used.
A change of platform is where an audit trail is most easily broken.
Before access to an old system ends, export each reported figure with its source documents, the factor applied and the methodology note, so a prior year can still be traced if anyone asks.
What assurance involves, and what it does not require, is on UK SRS assurance.

Frequently asked
Questions people ask
What happened to Emitwise?
Emitwise’s own website now carries a transition notice from Green Project Technologies, which says it acquired Emitwise’s software solution in July 2025 and that the platform and team are now part of Green Project’s end-to-end decarbonisation solutions.
Is Emitwise still a product or company?
No. The notice on emitwise.com says Emitwise “is no longer sold as a standalone product or brand” and that its technology now powers Green Project’s supply-chain and product carbon footprint capabilities.
Where did the Emitwise technology go?
Into Green Project Technologies’ suite50, launched on 1 October 2025, which combines engage50 for supplier engagement, account50 for carbon accounting and act50 for renewable energy certificates.
Green Project’s account50 page says Emitwise’s technology now powers engage50.
What is a good Emitwise alternative?
This site does not rank vendors.
Every profile in its directory sets a vendor’s own words against the same UK requirements, in no order of merit, and Green Project itself is where Emitwise’s technology continues.
I used Emitwise for SECR — what do I need to keep?
SECR requires last year’s figures beside this year’s: for a quoted company Schedule 7 ¶18 and ¶18A, for a large unquoted company or LLP ¶20H.
Export the prior-year energy, emissions, ratio and methodology, and the factor set used, before access ends.
Does an ESOS participant need its old data?
Yes.
Regulation 28 of the ESOS Regulations requires records of the assessment to be kept, including the methods and data behind any estimate, and failing to maintain records is a civil penalty under Part 8.
Is Emitwise sustainability reporting software for SECR in the UK?
It is no longer sold as a product.
For any replacement, the UK test is the same: the SECR section with kWh, the statutory limbs, an emissions intensity ratio, a methodology statement and comparatives, shown on your own data.
Has this site tested Emitwise or Green Project?
No. This page describes what Green Project Technologies publishes and sets it beside what the rules require. It gives no rating.
