Workiva sells a reporting platform used for financial, risk and sustainability reports, and Workiva Carbon is the part that calculates emissions and connects them to those reports (workiva.com).
For UK companies that matters because SECR and the FCA’s UK SRS statements are published inside the annual report.
We have not tested Workiva and give it no rating.
Workiva describes Workiva Carbon as audit-ready, AI-powered carbon accounting that unifies carbon and financial data in one platform.
Its UK carbon page lists four activities: measure (automated data ingestion with error detection, integrated surveys for value-chain data, GHG Protocol-aligned methodologies, emission factors across more than 240 countries, territories and regions); manage (science-based targets, benchmarking, reduction opportunities, supplier engagement); report; and collaborate.
Under reporting it names CSRD, ISSB and the California laws SB 253 and SB 261, and the voluntary frameworks CDP and GRI.
Its CSRD page describes double materiality assessment and ESRS gap analysis inside the platform, policies, risks and controls, more than 60 pre-built connectors, integrated financial and sustainability reporting and an audit and assurance hub.
Its main carbon page carries the same product for other markets.
These are Workiva’s statements about its own product.

Workiva writes for finance, risk and sustainability leaders, and its pages speak of connecting sustainability, finance, audit, risk and legal teams around one dataset.
That is an audience of companies that already produce regulated reports — listed companies, and large groups preparing annual reports with auditors in the room.
For a UK listed company from 2027, the relevant reports are the annual report’s SECR section and the FCA’s UK SRS statements; what UK SRS is and why it matters is on what UK SRS is.
Some people search Workiva against other filing-software vendors for SEC filings; that is a US securities question outside this site’s scope.

Workiva says it automates Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation with GHG Protocol-aligned methodologies tailored to a company’s data, and collects value-chain data through integrated surveys.
UK SRS S2 requires gross emissions under the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, location-based Scope 2, and all fifteen Scope 3 categories considered with the included ones disclosed (¶29(a); ¶¶B30–B33).
Workiva describes emission factors across more than 240 countries, territories and regions; for UK activity data, the expected set is the DESNZ conversion factors for the year in which the activity mostly fell.
Ask which factor source is applied to UK electricity and fuel, and whether the set can be pinned to the activity year.
People search for Workiva as carbon measurement platform and carbon accounting software for the UK; the six tests that apply to any such tool are on carbon management software.

| Regime | What the rule requires | What Workiva says | Ask to see |
|---|---|---|---|
| SECR | kWh, statutory emissions limbs, an intensity ratio, methodology and comparatives, in the directors’ report (Sch 7) | Not named on the pages read; Workiva describes connecting carbon data to financial reports | The SECR section drafted inside the annual report document, linked to the carbon figures |
| UK SRS S2 | Gross Scopes 1–3; location-based Scope 2; the Scope 3 category record (¶29(a); ¶¶B30–B33) | Automated Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation; GHG Protocol-aligned methodologies; factors across 240+ countries and regions (carbon page) | The Scope 2 default and the Scope 3 category record; which DESNZ set is applied to UK data |
| FCA listing rules | Comply or explain; relief, location, assurance and transition-plan statements (UKLR 6.6.6R(7A), (8)) | ISSB named for regulatory reporting; UK SRS and the FCA rules not named on the pages read (carbon page) | The comply-or-explain statement drafted in the annual report with its gap register behind it |
| CSRD / ESRS | FY2026 version statement; ¶24 omission; limited assurance over the identification process (DR 2026/1563) | Double materiality assessment, ESRS gap analysis, policies, risks and controls, an audit and assurance hub (CSRD page) | The ESRS version field, and the materiality record an assurer would test |
| Voluntary frameworks | CDP responses and GRI reports are voluntary in the UK | Reports to CDP and GRI; complies with California SB 253 and SB 261 (carbon page) | Which frameworks share one dataset without re-keying |
Because Workiva’s strength, by its own account, is the report document, the UK rows are best tested in the report.
SECR content goes in the directors’ report; the government’s SECR guidance sets out what it must contain.
The FCA’s final rules say where UK SRS disclosures and the explanation for any gap must be given, and they replace the TCFD-aligned disclosures; UK SRS is otherwise available for voluntary use (DBT guidance).
Workiva also names CDP; the CSRD rows are explained on CSRD reporting software.
Audit trail
Assurance readiness: what can be checked, and by whom
Workiva's stated audit and assurance workflow features support evidence handling, while the engagement remains separately defined.

Read the detailed guidance and evidence
Workiva describes complete audit trails with built-in controls, workflows and collaboration, emissions calculations tracked end to end, and an assurance hub that automates evidence for reviewers.
In the UK no company must obtain sustainability assurance; listed companies in scope of the FCA rules state whether they did, the provider, the disclosures covered and the standards used (UKLR 6.6.6R(8)(d)).
Where an assurer is engaged, the FRC’s ISSA (UK) 5000 is available for periods from 15 December 2026; the practical test for software is whether a reported figure can be traced to its source.
For the CSRD, the limited-assurance opinion also covers the process used to identify what is reported; see UK SRS assurance for the UK side.

Workiva publishes no price.
Its pricing page says pricing reflects the value and needs of each organisation, that some solutions use good, better and best packaging, and that every offering includes unlimited seats or users.
It lists what every plan includes: data linking across documents, spreadsheets and presentations; an AI companion; round-the-clock support; more than 70 connectors; and open APIs.
This site records the price as Enterprise level · TBD.
Because Workiva sells solutions that are bundled together, a quote should say which — carbon, CSRD, financial reporting — are included.

For Workiva, ask for the demonstration inside a draft annual report: the SECR section, the UK SRS S2 metrics and the comply-or-explain statement, each linked to the underlying figures.
For a second test, change one source value in a controlled copy and ask the vendor to show which linked report values update, which require publication and which have been overridden.
The owner’s linking guidance describes source-to-destination updates when the source file publishes an updated value.
Ask to retain the source, version history and reviewer record for the resulting report; this is an editorial acceptance test, not a product finding.
The builder beside this text lists the requests for the regimes you choose, each with its provision.
The rules behind the FCA rows are on UK SRS compliance.
Everything above describes what Workiva publishes about itself, set beside what the rules require.

Frequently asked
Questions people ask
How should a team test Workiva’s linked sustainability figures?
Ask the vendor to trace a selected report figure back to its source, change the source in a controlled copy, publish the update and show every affected destination and any override.
Workiva describes source-to-destination links and version history in its own documentation; this site has not tested that workflow.
What is Workiva Carbon?
Workiva Carbon is Workiva’s carbon accounting product.
Workiva’s UK page, read on 1 October 2026, describes it as unifying carbon and financial data in one AI-powered platform: automated Scope 1, 2 and 3 calculation, GHG Protocol-aligned methodologies, emission factors across more than 240 countries, territories and regions, and audit trails with built-in controls.
Is Workiva carbon accounting software or reporting software?
Both, by its own description.
Workiva is best known as a platform for financial and regulatory reports, and describes Workiva Carbon as connecting emissions data to those reports so that sustainability, finance, audit, risk and legal teams work from one dataset.
Does Workiva support SECR and UK SRS?
Neither SECR nor UK SRS is named on the Workiva pages read; ISSB, CSRD, CDP, GRI and the California laws are.
Because SECR and, for listed companies, UK SRS disclosures sit in the annual report, the useful test is whether Workiva can draft those sections in the report document with the carbon figures linked.
Ask to see it on your data.
How much does Workiva cost?
Workiva publishes no prices.
Its pricing page says pricing reflects each organisation’s needs, that some solutions use good, better and best packaging, and that every offering includes unlimited seats. This site records that as Enterprise level · TBD.
Where can I find Workiva reviews for the UK?
This site does not review products and has not tested Workiva.
For a UK view, ask Workiva for a reference customer of your size that reports under SECR or the FCA rules, and put the demonstration requests on this page to the product itself.
What are the alternatives to Workiva for UK enterprise reporting teams?
Seventeen vendors are described side by side, in alphabetical order and in their own words, on this site’s carbon management and sustainability software pages.
None is recommended over another; the requirements each must meet are listed with their provisions.
Does Workiva support CSRD reporting?
Workiva’s CSRD page describes double materiality assessment, ESRS gap analysis, policies, risks and controls, pre-built connectors and an audit and assurance hub.
For a financial year starting in 2026, ask to see where the version of the ESRS applied is recorded, as Article 2(2) of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/1563 requires.
Has this site tested Workiva?
No. This page describes what Workiva publishes about itself and sets it beside what the rules require. It gives no rating.
Fictional example
A fictional publication-control test
A fictional buyer changes a sandbox energy record from 1,000 to 1,200 kWh, then follows source publication, linked destinations and report approval.
- 1
Source version
Keep the original 1,000 kWh record and the corrected 1,200 kWh input; these are invented test values.
- 2
Publish
Ask the vendor to show when the changed source becomes available to linked destinations, rather than assuming every draft edit is already published.
- 3
Destinations
Inspect the carbon total, report value and any override or stale destination, and retain the version history.
- 4
Release
Review and authorise the intended disclosure version; this test is an editorial buyer exercise, not a finding that this site verified the product.
